The Mechanical Design Intern will focus on the design and development of Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) for direct liquid cooling systems. This role supports the full product lifecycle from concept to testing, collaborating with internal engineering teams and industry partners to improve performance and manufacturability.
What you'll do#
- Support the design and development of CDUs, including mechanical components and assemblies.
- Build and test prototypes, conduct experiments, collect data, and refine designs to meet thermal and mechanical performance goals.
- Create detailed engineering documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Utilize advanced computer simulations to analyze and optimize CDU designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners to support product development and sustaining activities.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years of a Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Aerospace, Computer, or Biomedical Engineering, or Chemistry or Physics.
- Demonstrable proficiency with Solidworks CAD for mechanical design and drafting.
- Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, material science, and reliability analysis.
- Understanding of fluid dynamics, specifically regarding heat transfer and fluid flow.
- Knowledge of designing components for mass production, including sheet metal, machining, casting, injection molding, and welding.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations and system validation testing.
