About the role#
The City of Mansfield offers a paid internship program designed to provide college students with practical experience in local government. This program spans 10 to 12 weeks during the fall, with five positions available. Interns work directly with a designated coordinator to gain exposure to various municipal departments, which may include Community Engagement, Marketing, Finance, Parks, and Environmental Utilities. Assignments are tailored to align with your degree path and career interests.
What you'll do#
- Complete work assignments across various municipal departments.
- Conduct research and attend meetings to support city functions.
- Gain a broad understanding of career opportunities within local government.
- Support multiple municipal operations as directed by department staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Windows applications.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both in teams and independently.
- Reliable transportation.
- Flexibility to work up to 20 hours per week, including some mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Relevant majors include Public Health, Political Science, Business Administration, Communications, Environmental Engineering, Marketing, Sociology, and Criminal Justice.
