As a Research Engineer Intern, you will work closely with researchers on projects covering AI security, machine ethics, AI alignment, and benchmarking AI risks. You will be paired with a dedicated mentor and treated as a colleague, with the opportunity to propose experiments, defend their potential impact, and contribute to publications. This is a full-time position for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Plan and execute experiments and conduct code reviews within a small team.
- Utilize an internal compute cluster to run large-scale experiments on large language models.
- Take ownership of your specific contributions to research projects.
- Collaborate to produce high-impact research publications.
What you'll need#
- Ability to read machine learning papers, interpret key results, and understand their place in the broader literature.
- Proficiency in setting up, launching, and debugging machine learning experiments.
- Familiarity with relevant frameworks and libraries, such as PyTorch.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with teammates.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of individual project components.
- Academic background in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience co-authoring a machine learning paper in a top conference is preferred.
