This is a part-time, 8-week summer contract position based in Red Deer, Alberta. The role involves 35 hours of work per week and is dependent upon government funding. Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 30 and hold status as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
What you'll do#
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver recreation programs for children and adults with disabilities.
- Support caregiver support groups for families impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
- Assist adults with developmental disabilities with their day-to-day needs.
- Promote the agency at community events, including kids' activities and FASD Awareness Day.
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and managing supplies.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and activities across various locations.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma.
- Current enrollment in or completion of studies in Early Childhood Development, Child and Youth Care, Sociology, Psychology, Education, or related disability programs.
- Experience working with children or adults with developmental disabilities.
- Skills in program planning, problem-solving, organization, and teamwork.
- Proficiency with standard computer programs and office equipment.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a personal vehicle for client transport.
- Proof of vehicle registration and third-party liability insurance of at least $2 million.
- A driving record with no more than six demerit points (issued within the last year).
- Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check and a Child Intervention Record Check (issued within the last six months).
