This full-time Summer Analyst internship offers a comprehensive look at the full lifecycle of affordable housing development. You will work directly with the Catholic Homes New York team across three core pillars: Housing Development, Asset Management, and Mission. This role provides exposure to real-world complexities, including site visits to construction projects, design meetings, and interactions with senior leadership to discuss career paths in non-profit development.
What you'll do#
- Support the development team on active transactions, including closings, requisitions, and design meetings.
- Conduct market research and demographic analysis for potential new sites.
- Analyze property performance data to identify trends in utility usage and operating expenses.
- Assist in preparing annual operating budgets and financial summaries for board review.
- Learn the fundamentals of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) compliance and regulatory reporting.
- Collaborate with social service staff to support resident programming and track service delivery outcomes.
- Join site visits to inspect construction progress and evaluate existing building conditions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior undergraduate student, or as a graduate student.
- Academic background in Public Health, Urban Planning, Business Administration, Economics, or Real Estate.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and AI tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A genuine interest in affordable housing and community development.
- Curiosity and a willingness to ask questions.

- Term: Summer 2026.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: This is a paid position at $25 per hour.
- Schedule: Full-time, typically 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend hours required for deadlines.
- Physical requirements: Ability to travel at least 20% of the time via public transportation or vehicle, traverse city streets, and lift or move document files.
