Summer Analyst

About the role#

This full-time Summer Analyst internship offers a comprehensive look at the full lifecycle of affordable housing development. You will work directly with the Catholic Homes New York team across three core pillars: Housing Development, Asset Management, and Mission. This role provides exposure to real-world complexities, including site visits to construction projects, design meetings, and interactions with senior leadership to discuss career paths in non-profit development.

What you'll do#

• Support the development team on active transactions, including closings, requisitions, and design meetings.
• Conduct market research and demographic analysis for potential new sites.
• Analyze property performance data to identify trends in utility usage and operating expenses.
• Assist in preparing annual operating budgets and financial summaries for board review.
• Learn the fundamentals of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) compliance and regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate with social service staff to support resident programming and track service delivery outcomes.
• Join site visits to inspect construction progress and evaluate existing building conditions.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior undergraduate student, or as a graduate student.
• Academic background in Public Health, Urban Planning, Business Administration, Economics, or Real Estate.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and AI tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A genuine interest in affordable housing and community development.
• Curiosity and a willingness to ask questions.

• Compensation: This is a paid position at $25 per hour.
• Schedule: Full-time, typically 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend hours required for deadlines.
• Physical requirements: Ability to travel at least 20% of the time via public transportation or vehicle, traverse city streets, and lift or move document files.
