IT Admin Co-op

About the role#

Carbon Engineering is seeking an IT Admin Co-op to support our Business, Engineering, and Operations teams. Reporting to the IT Administrator, you will gain hands-on experience providing infrastructure support and help desk services within a computing environment that includes on-premise, cloud, and industrial systems. This is a full-time, temporary 8-12 month position starting in September 2026.

What you'll do#

• Assist in the procurement of IT hardware and maintain IT inventory.
• Troubleshoot system and program issues, including operating systems, networks, and software such as M365.
• Monitor and maintain networks and servers.
• Install, configure, and upgrade hardware and software to meet company objectives.
• Implement security protocols and procedures to prevent potential threats.
• Create user accounts and manage access control.
• Document technical processes and manage data backup, archiving, and recovery procedures.
• Train users on standard hardware and software and manage software licenses.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a co-op program through a recognized post-secondary institution in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Engineering.
• Experience with fundamental concepts of IT environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a focus on service quality.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical topics to various stakeholders.
• Ability to balance competing departmental goals using a diplomatic and professional approach.
• Familiarity with security controls is considered an asset.

Location & details#

• Location: Squamish, British Columbia, Canada.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Term: Fall 2026 (8-12 month duration).
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
• Compensation: Paid position ($22-26/hour).
• Relocation support is provided.
