The Compliance Intern will join the Market & Trading Compliance team for a 12-month, full-time position. This role offers hands-on experience in wholesale power markets across North America, working alongside compliance professionals, traders, and cross-functional teams to understand regulatory frameworks and internal compliance programs.
What you'll do#
- Monitor trading activities and identify potential compliance risks across physical and financial power markets.
- Conduct regulatory research and communicate developments from key regulatory bodies.
- Contribute to the development, maintenance, and improvement of compliance policies, procedures, and controls.
- Assist with data analysis and validation to support trade surveillance and reporting.
- Prepare internal reports, documentation, and audit materials.
- Support compliance training efforts by preparing materials and coordinating learning sessions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Trading, Risk, Legal, and Operations.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Energy Management, Law, Public Policy, or Regulatory Studies.
- Recent graduate or graduating within the last year.
- Prior internship, co-op, or academic experience in compliance, risk management, energy markets, finance, or regulatory environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint).
- Ability to conduct regulatory research and synthesize complex information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.

- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
