This internship provides practical, service-oriented experience for students pursuing a degree in fields such as Counseling, Social Work, or Human Services. You will shadow a mentor from the counseling department to gain hands-on experience in case management and crisis intervention. The role focuses on applying academic knowledge to real-world scenarios while supporting the residents of Cal Farley's Boys Ranch.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical interventions for residents.
- Collaborate with staff to assess and refer residents for external services, medication reviews, and service design.
- Participate in weekly team meetings and Intensive Team Meetings to develop team-centered approaches for residents.
- Assist in the design and facilitation of therapeutic group processes and the coordination of clinical learning.
- Provide crisis intervention, including the use of approved verbal and physical techniques.
- Support the operation of the childcare program in line with the Cal Farley’s Model of Leadership and Service.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance and interact appropriately with residents.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s degree program at an accredited university in Social Work, Child Psychology, Counseling, Human Services Administration, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general office equipment.
- Exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

- Location: Boys Ranch, Texas.
- This is an on-site, full-time position.
- This internship is unpaid.
