The Life Partnerships Fellow will join the Life team to create general-interest content for Business Insider and partner outlets such as MSN, Yahoo, and Apple News. This six-month fellowship provides early-career journalists the opportunity to work 40 hours per week within a professional newsroom, producing real work for a large audience while gaining expertise in digital storytelling.
What you'll do#
- Pitch, research, and write accurate, well-researched stories across topics including food, retail, travel, real estate, and science.
- Produce general-interest slideshows, visual features, explainers, and quick posts.
- Brainstorm story ideas based on current trends, editorial calendars, and audience engagement data.
- Hone SEO best practices and master headline writing according to company standards.
- Collaborate with the Editorial Partnerships team to create content that resonates with partner audiences.
What you'll need#
- Background in journalism with prior experience in a digital publication or newsroom.
- Experience with pitching, fact-checking, interviewing, and copy-editing.
- Genuine interest in covering a wide range of topics and a creative approach to storytelling.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with a self-starter attitude.
- Ability to think critically about performance data.
- Academic focus in Communications, Journalism, or English.
Location & details#
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Modality: This is a hybrid role. Fellows are required to work on-site in the New York City or San Francisco office two to three times per week.
- Compensation: This position is paid at $23 per hour and is full-time.
- Benefits: Includes PTO, paid holidays, and eligibility for medical, dental, and vision benefits after 91 days of employment.
