The Provisional Service Technician Intern position is a structured program designed for students enrolled in a two-year John Deere Diesel Technician associate degree program. This role combines classroom instruction with hands-on experience to build technical proficiency in servicing agricultural machinery. Interns receive dealer sponsorship, paid tuition or reimbursement, and a tool allowance.
What you'll do#
- Complete two years of instructor-led classroom and lab training while maintaining a minimum 2.7 GPA.
- Fulfill all internship requirements within the Student Tech program.
- Assist senior technicians with basic service tasks and learn the removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of components.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and account for all time and materials used.
- Work 40 hours per week during full-time internship periods and continue mentorship during the school year.
- Dedicate at least 4 hours per week to self-directed training.
- Work toward certifications in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service Advisor training.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Fundamental knowledge of engines, hydraulics, powertrains, air-conditioning, and electrical systems.
- Interest in learning repair methods for outdoor power equipment and agricultural machinery.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to repeatedly lift at least 25 lbs.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- A forklift license is preferred.

- Compensation: $15.00 to $18.00 per hour, depending on experience.
