Jr. Security Automation Engineer Skillbridge Intern

About the role#

Blackpoint Cyber is seeking a Jr. Security Automation Engineer Skillbridge Intern to join the Security Operations Center (SOC). This role focuses on designing and maintaining automation tools to improve operational efficiency and response capabilities. You will work closely with SOC analysts to identify opportunities for detection logic improvements and streamline security workflows.

What you'll do#

• Design, develop, and maintain security automation tools and scripts to enhance SOC efficiency.
• Utilize Python and other scripting languages to create custom solutions for process automation.
• Leverage APIs to automate data retrieval and report generation.
• Collaborate with the Security Operations team to investigate attacks and understand the threat landscape.
• Work with SOC analysts to develop and integrate automation solutions that support their daily workflows.

What you'll need#

• 2+ years of experience in coding, development, or scripting with a focus on cybersecurity (Python strongly preferred).
• 1+ years of experience in an information security role, preferably in SOC, Threat Hunting, or DFIR.
• Proven experience in security automation and tool management within a SOC environment.
• Proficiency in leveraging APIs for data retrieval and automation.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and data analysis techniques.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, OCSF, or Kibana query languages.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or a related field is desirable.

• This is a full-time, paid, remote position based in the United States.
• The role follows a rolling term.
