About the role#
The Construction Accounting Intern supports the accounting team in tracking, analyzing, and reconciling financial activity for construction projects. This role provides hands-on experience with the construction accounting lifecycle, including budgeting, invoicing, and month-end close. You will work alongside accounting professionals to gain insight into how financial operations support large-scale construction and investment decisions.
What you'll do#
- Assist in preparing and posting journal entries related to construction accounting activities.
- Support the review and processing of construction invoices, budgets, and contracts.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis.
- Contribute to month-end close activities, including reporting and documentation.
- Collaborate with accounting team members across experience levels.
- Research and evaluate emerging AI tools for accounting functions and identify opportunities for adoption.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree with a major or minor in Accounting, Business Administration, or Real Estate.
- Interest in real estate, construction, or project-based accounting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Availability to work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year.

- Location: San Diego, California.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Modality: On-site (Monday through Thursday).
- Compensation: $25.00 per hour for undergraduate students and $30.00 per hour for graduate students.
- Status: This is a paid internship.
