About the role#
The Medical Receptionist I at the PCC Student Health Center serves as the primary point of contact for patients. This role focuses on maintaining accurate patient records, managing scheduling logistics, and ensuring that administrative processes run smoothly to support patient care.
What you'll do#
- Greet and register incoming patients, ensuring all demographic and insurance information is entered into the practice management system with high accuracy.
- Confirm and schedule appointments, manage appointment reminders, and follow up with patients who miss appointments.
- Verify health insurance eligibility and explain financial requirements, including copays and deductibles, to patients or responsible parties.
- Collect patient payments and reconcile daily charges.
- Process and document patient referrals and initiate requests for service authorizations.
- Receive and route incoming telephone calls in a professional manner.
- Operate office equipment effectively and maintain patient records.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with computers and related software applications.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and handle requests or complaints in a calm, professional manner.
- Ability to prioritize work, organize tasks, and achieve objectives.
- Relevant academic background in Business Administration, Health Administration, Nursing, Public Health, Communications, or Psychology is preferred.
