Intern - Civil Engineering -Transportation

About the role#

Ayres Associates is seeking a civil engineering student to join our transportation team. This internship provides hands-on experience in construction inspection and design support under the direct supervision of our engineering staff.

What you'll do#

• Assist with construction inspection for storm sewer, roadway, asphalt or concrete pavement, and curb and gutter projects.
• Support design projects by preparing plans, collecting data, writing reports, and computing quantities.
• Perform traffic data collection as well as inspection and maintenance of highway culverts and bridges.
• Maintain project records, assist with surveying, and perform other related construction documentation tasks.
• Note that this position may require overtime and out-of-town travel, typically within 60 miles of the office.

What you'll need#

• Current pursuit of a civil engineering degree.
• A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• A reliable means of transportation to travel to office locations and project sites.
• Experience in construction, municipal, roadway, traffic, or structural work is beneficial.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
