About the role#
The Product Development Co-Op will support automotive application co-engineering projects using laser welded blanks. You will work with the Product Development team to develop skills in design for manufacturing and optimization for weight, cost, and performance using CAD and CAE tools.
What you'll do#
- Gain on-the-job experience performing FEA and structural and metal forming analysis.
- Assist with the quote generation process through material utilization studies.
- Conduct lab analysis of laser welded samples for engineering studies.
- Support the development and maintenance of the market development database.
- Create presentation materials and research technical papers to support the product development team.
- Assist with marketing activities such as seminars, workshops, and exhibits.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or an equivalent field (or current enrollment in a related degree program).
- Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent software.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering, including machine design and strength of materials.
- Ability to travel as needed to support job functions.
- Knowledge of FEA is considered a plus.
