DoW Skillbridge Internship - Maintenance Technician I

About the role#

This internship is offered exclusively through the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program for transitioning active-duty U.S. service members. Participants remain on active duty and continue to receive military pay and benefits through the Department of War. This is an on-site, hands-on training opportunity lasting up to 180 days, depending on service member eligibility and command approval.

What you'll do#

• Operate, repair, and adjust refrigeration systems while monitoring performance.
• Perform routine maintenance on warehouse equipment in accordance with OSHA standards.
• Troubleshoot equipment, recommend corrective actions, and maintain accurate preventive maintenance records.
• Test, maintain, and evaluate equipment performance using instruments such as multi-meters.
• Conduct safety equipment tests to ensure compliance with operational standards.
• Maintain tools and machinery in good condition and keep work areas clean and organized.
• Perform other maintenance-related tasks as required, which may include flexible shifts or on-call duties.

What you'll need#

• Must be an active-duty U.S. service member eligible for the DoW SkillBridge Program, typically within the final 180 days of service.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Completion of trade school courses or experience in building maintenance, material handling equipment maintenance, or refrigeration maintenance (ammonia, Freon, or CO2).
• Ability to work in environments with temperatures at or below freezing and perform physical tasks such as lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
