Laboratory Assistant/Intern

About the role#

The Laboratory Assistant/Intern supports laboratory testing operations and assists assigned sections to meet daily operational needs. This full-time, paid position is based on-site in Salt Lake City, Utah, and follows a rolling term.

What you'll do#

• Support laboratory testing operations and assist assigned laboratory sections.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) requirements and adhere to strict quality assurance and quality control standards.
• Create work lists, workgroups, and sample tables.
• Properly complete all paperwork used to track tests and their validity.
• Store and dispose of samples according to established protocols.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and adhere to all company safety policies.
• Communicate all safety concerns and incidents to the appropriate safety representative.

What you'll need#

• A High School diploma or relevant laboratory experience is preferred.
• A working knowledge of good laboratory practice.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to perform duties under pressure, including managing large sample volumes and short turn-around times.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs (14 kg) on a regular basis.
• Ability to sit or stand for a full shift and perform repetitive tasks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn Laboratory Information Management Systems.
• Candidates should be pursuing or have completed degrees in fields such as Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Health Administration, Public Health, Chemical Engineering, or Nursing.
