The Allegheny County Department of Human Services (ACDHS) is seeking a Policy Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role supports the department's policy governance function, helping to maintain high-quality, accessible, and current policy documentation. Interns will assist with department-wide policy inventory updates and contribute to ongoing policy initiatives while gaining practical experience in local government operations.
What you'll do#
- Conduct policy writing, editing, and Digital Accessibility Compliance Review (Section 508 remediation).
- Assist with department-wide policy inventory updates.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and provide project support.
- Contribute to department-wide policy initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited U.S. college or university (undergraduate or graduate).
- Strong written communication and editing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word's document formatting features, including styles, headings, page layout, and tables.
- Ability to work up to 20 hours per week.
- Ability to work in person at an assigned ACDHS office.
- Relevant academic backgrounds include Public Health, Political Science, Business Administration, Communications, Psychology, or Sociology.

- Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- Term: Fall 2026 (approximately 12 weeks).
- Modality: Hybrid (requires one in-office day per week).
- Compensation: Paid internship ($15/hour).
- Eligibility: Must maintain an Allegheny County address during the internship.
