About the role#
This 12-month co-op position supports the Distribution Design Subdivisions team at Alectra Inc. You will work 40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity, contributing to the planning and coordination of electrical distribution projects.
What you'll do#
- Prepare designs for new facilities, line relocations, rebuilds, and modifications to the electrical distribution system using CAD tools.
- Create engineering and financial calculations, cost estimates, material lists, and work orders.
- Provide project coordination and guidance for underground, overhead, street lighting, and general service installations.
- Communicate with municipalities, developers, contractors, and consultants to ensure compliance with specifications and policies.
- Prepare contracts and assist in tenders for distribution, sub-transmission, and street lighting projects.
- Conduct field inspections and field surveying to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design standards.
- Obtain necessary permits and approvals from municipal, provincial, and federal agencies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Electrical Engineering Technician or Technology program.
- A valid G License.
- Knowledge of safety legislation and safe work practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with CAD tools.
