Reporting to the Chief Metallurgist, this internship provides hands-on experience in metallurgical reporting, plant inventory, and refinery operations. This is a 12-16 month, full-time, paid position based on a 7 days on/7 days off rotation.
What you'll do#
- Compile Mill Daily Production Reports and enter operator report data.
- Conduct month-end sampling of plant inventory for metal balance and reconciliation.
- Assist the refiner with washing electrowinning cells and gold pours.
- Manage reagent inventory and place orders as needed.
- Prepare reagents for the operations group, including indicator and silver nitrate solutions.
- Perform laboratory testwork and assist the metallurgy group with sample preparation and dispatch.
- Assist in the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform routine maintenance on plant and laboratory equipment, such as pH meters and scales.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a 2nd or 3rd year student in a chemical or metallurgical engineering program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent English language skills.
- A valid class G driver's license.
- A collaborative mindset that prioritizes team success.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing stairs and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work in both summer and winter outdoor conditions.
- Must be clean-shaven and able to wear all prescribed PPE, including a full-face respirator.
