African Communities Together is seeking an ESOL Intern to support the Workforce Team during the Fall 2026 term. This part-time internship focuses on the Healthcare Support Career Accelerator (HSCA) program, providing hands-on experience in education, workforce development, and community-based service delivery. The role involves engaging with diverse immigrant communities and assisting in the coordination of program services.
What you'll do#
- Assist the ESOL instructor during in-person HSCA classes, including managing setup, materials, and attendance.
- Provide weekly group or 1-on-1 tutoring sessions for HSCA participants.
- Support the Workforce Team with various administrative tasks.
- Engage directly with diverse, immigrant communities.
What you'll need#
- Experience facilitating tutoring sessions for individuals and groups.
- Proficiency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous tutoring or ESOL teaching experience is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, and common business software.
- Access to a working laptop.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Understanding of and alignment with the organization's mission and values.
- Preferred majors include Psychology, Communications, Human Resources, or Public Health.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, NY (Hybrid).
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 1st to November 27th, 2026).
- Schedule: Up to 12 hours per week, with a requirement to be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Compensation: $22 per hour.
