The AEVEX Navigation and Autonomy Center (NAC) develops advanced algorithms for autonomous systems, focusing on navigation, sensor fusion, and computer vision. This co-op position offers the opportunity to contribute to research and development for autonomous platforms operating in GPS-degraded or GPS-denied environments. You will work alongside senior engineers to prototype and validate software for unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
What you'll do#
- Develop and implement computer vision-based localization, SLAM, or deep learning models.
- Integrate data from cameras, IMUs, GNSS, and alternative PNT sources for sensor fusion applications.
- Optimize and deploy navigation and autonomy algorithms for embedded systems and edge computing hardware.
- Perform simulation and validation of algorithms using Python, C++, or Rust.
- Participate in flight test campaigns to validate software and algorithms on UAS.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, Python, or Rust.
- Experience with ROS/ROS2.
- Demonstrated project or professional experience with computer vision and deep learning frameworks (such as OpenCV, PyTorch, or TensorFlow).
- Experience with embedded systems and real-time computing.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
