About the role#
Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery offers an externship program for students currently completing their Medical Assistant coursework. This on-site opportunity provides hands-on clinical training within a dermatology practice to help students fulfill their program requirements.
What you'll do#
You will work alongside a trainer to gain practical experience in a clinical setting. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with patient intake, triage, and recording vital signs.
- Supporting providers during dermatologic exams and shadowing minor procedures.
- Preparing and cleaning exam rooms.
- Documenting patient information in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Learning administrative tasks related to clinic reception and medical assistant duties.
- Developing dermatology-specific clinical skills and patient education techniques.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Medical Assistant program that requires externship hours.
- Strong communication skills and professional conduct.
- Reliable transportation.
- CPR certification is preferred, or the ability to obtain it.
