About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to blend user research, behavioral science, and data analysis at a robotics startup. You will work with Product, Engineering, Design, and Operations teams to design and execute consumer studies that influence the future of customer experience. This is a paid, full-time, on-site role based in Burlington, Massachusetts, with an expected duration of 3 to 6 months.
What you'll do#
- Design and execute consumer research studies focused on self-service user experiences.
- Develop test methodologies and experimental frameworks to answer key product questions.
- Recruit, organize, and moderate user interview groups and usability sessions.
- Plan and coordinate testing logistics for the internal ManiLab consumer testing environment.
- Lead day-of testing activities to ensure smooth execution and high-quality data collection.
- Collect qualitative and quantitative feedback through interviews, surveys, observations, and product usage data.
- Analyze research findings using statistical methods to identify trends and actionable insights.
- Build reports and presentations to communicate recommendations to Product, Engineering, and Leadership teams.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to prioritize experiments and measure the impact of product improvements.
- Help establish best practices for experimentation and user research as the testing program scales.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or a recent graduate with a Bachelor's, Master's, or MBA in Psychology, Behavioral Economics, Human Factors, Marketing, Consumer Insights, Statistics, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong interest in consumer behavior, experimentation, product research, or UX research.
- Experience designing surveys, user interviews, or research studies through coursework or previous internships.
- Ability to work with data and apply statistical thinking to draw conclusions.
- Familiarity with analytical tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, SPSS, R, Python, or SQL is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate research into clear recommendations.
- Ability to interact directly with customers and facilitate research sessions.
