Software Engineer Intern

💼 What You'll Do

• Collaborating with teammates during technical designs and planning

• Learning and adopting SAFE software development practices as part of our SDLC

• Building, monitoring, and maintaining data ETL pipelines

• Using Scala, Java, or Python to utilize Hadoop/Spark to collect and manage data at scale

• Using Java and React/Angular to build web applications

• Learning and leveraging various cloud and data lake technologies and tools to enhance and maintain our overall infrastructure

• Participating in team test coverage reviews and trainings

• Demoing completed work to stakeholders

• Developing functionality for world-renowned SaaS platforms within a multi-functional Agile team

• Building solutions architecture, algorithms, and designs for solutions that scale to the customer's enterprise/global requirements

• Collaborating with colleagues in design, product management, and systems architecture to develop solutions and bring great ideas to life

🎓 Your Qualifications

• Working towards a Bachelor's degree in a technical field of study in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or IT

• Fully matriculated students with anticipated graduation date in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025

• Demonstrated passion or interest in one or more of our key industries

• Excellent communication skills

• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

• An aptitude to learn and adapt quickly in a rapidly changing environment

• Intellectual curiosity and desire to learn new things, techniques, and technologies

• The ability to build strong working relationships in a collaborative setting

Software Engineering Intern

💼 What You'll Do

• Work on individual and group projects focused on the full project life-cycle

• Collaborate with business leaders and key stakeholders to brainstorm on how to solve the challenge

🎓 Your Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelors or higher with the expectation that degree will be obtained between December 2024 and August 2025

• Must be returning to the course of study following completion of the internship

• Enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree program in Computer Science or a related technical field

• Proven track record of strong academic performance

• Experience with full stack and/or mobile development

• Knowledge and experience working with object oriented programming languages

• Experience or exposure to SQL, JavaScript and HTML, Python, HTML/CSS (this is not required for all teams)

• Interest in working with big data and machine learning

• Autonomy and the opportunity to make a project or tool on your own

• Strong communication skills

• Exposure to a broad spectrum of technologies and programming languages

Wayfair's Engineering team within the Technology organization is building the future of home and looking for dynamic, hardworking and talented students to join them in Summer 2024 for a 12-week internship from June 3, 2024-August 23, 2024. The team is responsible for building and integrating enabling technologies to power all aspects of customer acquisition, retention, and engagement. They also expose best-of-class third-party and other Wayfair technologies through their platforms so marketers and suppliers can leverage them for their businesses. The team empowers Wayfair teams to make data-driven decisions at scale by providing data platforms and machine learning capabilities, enabling customers to make home a reality.

Data Science Intern

💼 What You'll Do

• Develop ML-based applications that integrate with Altair products and help Altair clients use software products in a more efficient way

• Develop ML models to be implemented to solve specific engineering and business problems

• Work with the product development and consulting teams to address the ML needs of Altair clients in terms of new ML-assisted features in Altair products

🎓 Your Qualifications

• Knowledge of ML techniques and methodologies

• Programming in one of ML languages such as Python or R

• Good background in engineering applications

• Knowledge of engineering simulation methods and exposure to commercial simulation software
